Lest We Forget
The political situation changed from bad to worse at the height of former President, Bakili Muluzi's, unconstitutional Third Term attempt.
Pro-constitutional activists such as Harold Williams (above) were tortured, jossled, and pushed from left to right.
The culprits, often, were not just the ruling United Democratic Front's Young Democracts: police officers also joined the frey, and became instruments of citizens' terror.
Human freedoms, it seemed, were on a death bed.
