Global leaders visit Population Council projects in Ethiopia:

Recently, members of the Elders, an independent group of eminent global leaders, visited projects carried out by the Population Council/Ethiopia and the Amhara Regional Bureau of Women, Children, and Youth Affairs. These projects reduce child marriage, help prevent HIV, and increase gender equity in marriage.

Elders Mary Robinson (former president of Ireland), Desmond Tutu (South African activist and Christian cleric), and Gro Brundtland (former prime minister of Norway and director general of the World Health Organization) were impressed with the changes brought about by the projects, as well as the caliber of staff working on them.
