People of Chigwirizano in Lilongwe have been failing to communicate and recharge airtime using the Airtel network for 24 hours now, crippling the capability of those with only one mobile service provider.
To make matters worse, Airtel's call centre 'died' a long time ago, as the company prefers the use of customer service, or relationship, centres.
This has, so far, proved a failed strategy as these centres are very far away from Malawi's rural communities.
Information and Civic Education Minister, Symon Vuwa-Kaunda, told Zachimalawi an hour ago that government is not satisfied with the provision of mobile phone services.
"Even President Bingu wa Mutharika has complained about these never-ending technical hitches. We can do better as a nation," said Vuwa-Kaunda.
