Postponement of Parliamentary Election for Blantyre North

PUBLIC NOTICE


In pursuance of Section 47 of the Parliamentary and Presidential
Elections Act no. 31 of 1993, the Malawi Electoral Commission is
informing all stakeholders that Parliamentary Election for Blantyre
North constituency has been postponed because of death of a
candidate.
Mr Harold Chester Mulli died on Saturday, May 10, 2014. He was
contesting on a Malawi Congress Party ticket.
The Commission will conduct by-elections in the constituency after
the May 20, 2014 Tripartite Elections. Candidates who were duly
nominated for the cancelled polls will need to notify the Commission
in writing of their intention to contest again when the Commission
issues a notice to hold by-elections.
