Journalist Justice Mponda has been granted bail in Lilongwe, after his
arrest Monday morning and transfer to the capital city in the late hours
of the same day.
Mponda, 27, has, so far, been charged with three counts bordering on insulting President Joyce Banda, criminal libel, and publishing false information.
His Lawyer Chancy Gondwe believes that State may still come up with more charges.
Mponda becomes the first journalist to be arrested under the Joyce Banda administration. Banda became Malawi's forth president on April 7, 2010.
