As Football Association of Malawi (Fam) affiliates go to the polls in Salima today, to usher in the individual who will take Malawi football to another level, the name that is on every one's lips is 'Water Macmillan Nyamilandu Manda'!
Water Mcmillan Nyamilandu Manda is the name because, for the first time in two decades, the Malawi National Team rode on the back of Water Macmillan Nyamilandu Manda's inspiration and experience to get to the biggest soccer on the African continent- the African Cup of Nations (Afcon).
The coming in of Water Macmillan Nyamilandu Manda also saw the appointment of Kinnah Phiri, a local coach with exploits of his own on the soccer pitch. In his time, Kinnah had a lethal head, one that gave many a trouble to goal-stoppers!
In fact, it is just unfortunate that Malawi has failed to qualify for the Afcon- having hopelessly and untactically drawn against the equally-tactless Chad.
Under Water Macmillan Nyamilandu Manda's leadership, Malawi soccer has reached another level- a level at which you can hope if you plan, and win if you desire.
It is encouraging that the current administration (of Ngwazi Prof. Bingu wa Mutharika, and under the sports ministership of Symon Vuwa-Kaunda)has been forth-coming with funding.
There was never a time when the Flames, as Malawi are called, missed a senior tournament due to lack of funding.
Bravo President Ngwazi Dr. Bingu wa Mutharika. Bravo Symon Vuwa-Kaunda.
Bravo Walter Macmillan Nyamilandu Manda.
Zachimalawi would love to assure you- Mr. Walter Macmillan Nyamilandu Manda- that you are carrying the day, again.
Let your foes go and eat Lake Malawi sand at Lifuwu and Senda-bay. After all, the other folks- your so-called competitors- are already there, in the Lakeshore district of Salima!
Go, Nyamilandu, go!!!
