World Press Freedom Day: Commission launches 2010 Lorenzo Natali Prize for development journalism

On World Press Freedom Day on 3 May, the European Commission will officially launch the Lorenzo Natali Prize for 2010, an international prize awarded in partner-ship with Reporters Without Borders and the World Association of Newspapers to the best journalism on development, democracy and human rights.

Interested journalists have until 31 August 2010 to apply. The winners will be announced at an award ceremony in Brussels in December, in the presence of the European Commis-sioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs. Prizes worth a total of € 60,000 (approximately MWK 12.3 million) will be awarded to 17 journalists in Africa, Europe, the Arab World/Middle East, Asia and Latin America/Caribbean.
