Another man will marry me, says abandoned gay Tiwonge Chimbalanga

Tiwonge Chimbalanga, still reeling from news that his partner Steven Monjeza has chickened out on him, has taken it on the chin and rested all he aspirations on hope- saying 'she' knows 'she' will find another man.
"I was shocked to learn that Monjeza, whom I have always considered my man, has found a woman. I am also a woman, though. Anyway, I will find another man because life is full of opportunities," said Chimbalanga.
Monjeza announced on Monday he had found 'real' love in Dorothy Gulo, a woman based in Blantyre's Mbayani Township.
Dorothy confirmed: "It is true that we are in love and have been staying together. The man is good. Already, we have had sex twice and he has shown he has the mettle. Let Aunt Tiwo my his own business now," said Dorothy.
Meanwhile, Monjeza was smiling- the sure sign of an excited man.

Life imprisonment for child traffickers

Malawi plans to table legislation that could see child traffickers spending the rest of their life in jail.
This has been disclosed by Minister of Gender, Child and Community Welfare, Patricia Kaliati, in the wake of increased cases of trafficking in the Southern African Development Community member state.

Moscow court upholds Gay Pride ban

EU, UK and US fail to condemn ban

Russian gays will defy courts and mayor

Activists gather in secret Moscow location

Moscow 28 May 2010

"In a shameless display of feeble deference to the Mayor of Moscow, a court in the Russian capital today upheld Mayor Luzhkov's ban of the fifth attempted Moscow Gay Pride parade. The judge acted in defiance of the Russian constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression and the right to protest.

"This is a sad day for Russian democracy. It is the latest of many suppressions of civil liberties that happen in supposedly democratic Russia. Many other protests are also denied and repressed, not just gay ones. Autocracy rules under President Medvedev," said human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, who is in Moscow for the fourth time to support Russian gay rights activists.

"The EU and western embassies are hypocrites. They support Gay Pride events in Poland and Latvia, but not in Russia. The UK and US governments have not protested to the Russian authorities. Their ambassadors to Russia have offered no support to the Moscow Pride organizers. They have ignored suggestions that they host Gay Pride events in their embassy grounds and that they fly the gay rainbow flag on Moscow Pride day, 29 May.

"On the eve of the banned march, activists are arriving in Moscow from all parts of Russia, to join the Saturday parade. We are being billeted in secret locations across the city. To outwit the FSB security services, who have previously tried to locate Gay Pride activists by tracing their mobile phones, we have surrendered our mobiles and been issued with brand new Russian sim cards.

"I am holed up with a group of activists in an apartment in Moscow. We've been asked to remove all badges and ribbons that might identify us as gay or as activists. All the beds and sofas, and much of the floor space, is taken up with activists form far and wide. Everyone is messing in to organize food and household chores.

"We are ready and determined to make a stand for gay rights and the right to protests. The courage and resolve of the Russian LGBT activists is really inspiring. We'll take whatever the authorities, and neoNazis, throw at us. We are hoping for no arrests and no assaults, but we are ready for the worst," said Mr Tatchell.

Israel and Universal Jihad

Today we have a very different issue, not because it deals with Islam and politics, but because it is written by a politician—Vijay Kumar is running for Congress in Tennessees' 5th District. His billboards say "Defeat Universal Jihad". Imagine for a moment, that we had elected officials who actually knew who Mohammed was and what the true nature of jihad is. Instead, we have officials who believe Islam has been maligned and misunderstood and if we are just "nice" enough, they will love us.

Israel is the target of Islam's Universal Jihadists, whether they come from Turkey, Palestine, Lancashire, the United Nations, Maine, or Sweden. Islam's own Syed Qutb said it best: "A Muslim has no nationality except his belief." The exact same statement applies to the allies and supporters of Islam's Universal Jihadists.

That's why all the talk about Gaza and Palestinians and Turkey and "humanitarian aid" is pure fraud and nothing but fraud, all merely part of the Islamic Universal Jihad against Israel and everything it stands for. The Muslims involved in the attacks on Israel—no matter what piece of land they call home—care nothing for manmade geographical boundaries, just as they care nothing for manmade laws, or, for that matter, human life.

What they care about is wiping Israel and everything it stands for off the face of the Earth. That is their goal. The one thing that Israel stands for that drives the Universal Jihadists of the Middle East mad—however short a trip that may be—is the right and freedom of a human being to be something other than Muslim. Universal Jihadists are dedicated to wiping such freedom from the face of the Earth. That's why their overtly stated goal is to destroy Israel and the Jews. It is pure, seething hatred.

The "humanitarian aid" mission these Universal Jihadists and their liberal handmaidens are parading before the world press is nothing but a flotilla of pure, seething hatred, and it is a criminal fraud on Israel and on the world. It is actually a massive propaganda mission whose sole purpose is to smear and defame Israel, and weaken it for future attacks.

For those people of reason in the world who care about facts instead of hysterical Jihadist propaganda, over a million tons of humanitarian supplies have gone into Gaza through Israel in the last 18 months. That's nearly a full ton of supplies for every man, woman, and child in all of Gaza!

So who is lying? The Jihadists and their liberal "friends" fraudulently pretending to be on a "humanitarian aid" mission are lying. That shouldn't be a surprise: Islam demands that Muslims lie to non-Muslims if it benefits Universal Jihad and the Islamic goal of world domination.

Hamas is just one arm of Universal Jihad, and they've sent over 10,000 mortars and rockets into Israel. Why? Pure, seething hatred, that's why.

Israel is completely within its legal rights under international law to have mounted the Gaza blockade, and to have enforced it in international waters by stopping the Jihadist flotilla of pure, seething hatred fraudulently calling itself a "humanitarian aid" mission.

But the Universal Jihadists surrounding Israel on every side care nothing whatsoever about "international law." That, after all, is just more man-made law, and means absolutely nothing to the Jihadists, who honor only the allegedly "divine law" of the Quran and the Sunnah: Shariah law.

Islam's own Syed Qutb said it clearly: "There is only one law which ought to be followed, and that is the Shariah."

Islam's own Syed Qutb also exposed the complete fraud being perpetrated by Hamas and the rest of the Jihadist liars claiming that Gaza, and even Israel, are somehow important for the land to Muslims: "The homeland of the Muslim, in which he lives and which he defends, is not a piece of land; the nationality of the Muslim, by which he is identified, is not the nationality determined by a government." So it's all Jihadist fraud, and nothing but fraud.

The real driving force behind it is the one that has perpetuated 1400 years of the same kind of aggression, invasion, war, terrorism, slaughter, propaganda, and conquest of entire civilizations, such as Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran: it is Universal Jihad, the eternal Islamic quest for complete world domination.

Israel is just the next most important target in this 1400-year war against mankind and civilization.

The "humanitarian aid" mission is a Universal Jihad war flotilla, and it is nothing else. Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma Partisi, AKP) is the Turkish headquarters for Universal Jihad. The 10,000 rockets and mortars thrown by Hamas at Israel are missiles of Universal Jihad. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is the American headquarters of Universal Jihad. The Muslims in Afghanistan and Pakistan flooding the world with heroin (which is only sold to non-Muslims) are doing their part for Universal Jihad. The Iranian madman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad calling for Israel to be "wiped off the face of the map" is the voice of Universal Jihad.

Universal Jihad is not only a declared war on Israel, it is a declared war on the United States and on our Constitution.

And to our eternal shame, our own President, Barack Hussein Obama, is now aiding and abetting Universal Jihad by his words and actions, and has turned his back on Israel.

I support Israel absolutely and unconditionally. I decry and denounce Universal Jihad as the most hateful, destructive, amoral, and vicious assault on mankind and human rights and freedoms that the world has ever known.

Human Rights Act needs strengthening, not weakening

London - 7 June 2010

Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell was a keynote speaker at Salford University's human rights conference on 4 and 5 June 2010, held to mark the first decade of the Human Rights Act.

Other keynote speakers included Supreme Court Justice, Lady Hale; openly gay former High Court judge of Australia, Michael Kirby; and the University of Salford's Chancellor and former Amnesty International Secretary General, Irene Khan.

Peter Tatchell, who is the human rights spokesperson for the Green Party of England and Wales, is urging opposition to Conservative proposals to water-down the Human Rights Act:

"Despite its flaws and limitations, the Human Rights Act is probably the single most important piece of legislation passed by parliament in the last 30 years. It protects the individual against state intrusion and authoritarianism; asserting fundamental freedoms and liberties that a government cannot lawfully suppress," said Mr Tatchell.

"Thanks to the Human Rights Act, many government excesses have been overturned, including the detention of terrorist suspects without charge or trial and infringements on the right to protest and freedom of expression.

"The Human Rights Act has also helped extend LGBT equal rights, such as securing 'nearest relative' status for cohabiting same-sex partners (2002) and giving the surviving partner of a same-sex couple the right to inherit their deceased partner's tenancy (2004).

"The Conservatives have previously criticised the Human Rights Act and suggested that they want to replace it with a watered-down version in the form of a 'British' Bill of Rights.

"Any diminution of fundamental freedoms would be a retrograde step. It would strengthen the power of the state and undermine the rights of the citizen. Far from weakening the protections enshrined in the Human Rights Act, we need to expand and improve them.

"One of the flaws the Human Rights Act is that it embodies all the limitations of the European Convention on Human Rights, which it copies and incorporates into UK law.

"The ECHR was first agreed in 1950, at a time when concepts of human rights were much narrower than now. As a result the ECHR and Human Rights Act include no explicit protection against discrimination on the grounds of disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, medical condition or genetic inheritance.

"Moreover, the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the ECHR do not include economic and social rights, such as the right to a reasonable standard of living, to adequate health-care and education, and to a healthy environment. There is no specific, direct protection against discrimination in employment, housing, education, medical treatment and in the provision of other public services. These deficiencies need remedying in an expanded and strengthened version.

"The Human Rights Act is vulnerable to being overturned. It could be repealed by a simple majority vote in parliament. This is why transforming it into a constitutional protection, which could be abolished or diminished less easily, would provide better safeguards.

"It is time Britain had a written Constitution with a Bill of Rights that includes an extended and strengthened version of the Human Rights Act. If it was part of a new British Constitution, the Human Rights Act could only be amended or repealed by a constitutional amendment. In most countries constitutional amendments require a referendum or agreement by at least two-thirds of MPs. Incorporating the Human Rights Act into a new Constitution and Bill of Rights would therefore be a significant safeguard against tampering and subversion by an authoritarian or populist government," said Mr Tatchell.

Commenting on the conference, Salford University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Martin Hall, said:

"The University has an established reputation for the study of human rights, social justice and security issues which is demonstrated by the extremely prominent speakers we have at this conference.

"Now, more than ever, issues of social justice and human rights are at the forefront of public interest. In an ever-more cosmopolitan world, challenged by unprecedented issues of security, we need time to reflect on the consequences of legislation and its implementation. This conference is an opportunity to reflect on these questions, on the anniversary of path-breaking legislation," said Professor Hall.

Egypt denies US journalist entry

An American freelance journalist James Buck has been denied entry to Egypt by authorities. He was briefly detained at the Cairo International Airport when he arrived from Dubai on Friday and put on a return flight to Dubai.
Buck said in a message on his Twitter page that Egyptian authorities gave him no explanation for their decision.

But officials at Cairo airport said Buck's name was on a list of people not allowed into the country for allegedly defaming Egypt's reputation through articles and pictures published about civil unrest in 2008.

Buck was briefly detained in Egypt in 2008 while covering violent workers’ strikes in the northern industrial city of Mahalla el-Kobra.

Zachimalawi update on convicted, pardoned gays: What's new?

Gays rebuff asylum offer
By Richard Chirombo
Malawi’s open gay couple of Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga has rebuffed an asylum offer from Outrage’s Peter Thatchell, saying they are Malawians who would die in Malawi, no matter how negative the stakes against them.
Monjeza and Chimbalanga, who last Tuesday addressed the press in Lilongwe and appealed for respect for their privacy, said in separate interviews they would rather stay in Malawi than to a foreign land in the name of ‘seeking freedom’.
“While we appreciate the offers (for asylum), we are happy here. We are Malawians and will die so (Malawians). After all, we feel we have an intolerant president who has shown the way by pardoning us. We will remain in Malawi,” said Monjeza.
Chimbalanga, on the other hand, said ‘she’ saw no reason to go into exile and live as a prisoner-of-conscience because ‘she’ has wronged nobody in society.
“What wrong did we commit? This is our country; we love it,” said Chimbalanga.
United Kingdom-based Outrage offered the two convicted gays the opportunity to choose the country they wanted, possibly so they could continue to live as husband and wife.
But Chimbalanga and Monjeza have preferred to remain in Malawi.
Reports indicate that the two may have rebuffed the offers because of the poor English speaking abilities, as it would be difficult at their stage to start learning a new language.
Monjeza and Chimbalanga held Malawi’s first-ever gay engagement on December 22, 2009, and were subsequently arrested on December 28 on charges of gross indecency and canal knowledge of each other against the order on nature.
They were later convicted and sentenced to 14 years in prison with hard labour.
A visit by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and his subsequent meeting with Malawi’s president, Bingu wa Mutharika, then secured the impossible: the unconditional release of the country’s first open gay couple.
Ban announced the release of the two in Malawi Parliament on Saturday, fueling reports Mutharika bowed to donor pressure.
Mutharika denies he bowed to donor pressure, though he later (on Tuesday) accused the donors of contriving to suspend aid to the Southern African Development Community member state on the pretext of the gays’ arrest.
He has since gagged cabinet ministers from speaking on the issue, saying doing so could fan unnecessary confusion.

Pardoned gays could go back to jail
President Bingu wa Mutharika violated the law in pardoning convicted gays, Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga, without consulting a committee to deliberate over the decision as stipulated in the Malawi Constitution, legal experts say.
The experts say Mutharika’s unilateral decision means that the process that led to Chimbalanga and Monjeza’s unconditional release is illegal. This means the two face the possibility of being sent back to jail, the experts say.
For example, lawyer Kamuzu Chibambo, who is also People’s Transformation Party (Petra) president, argues that the Constitutional provisional that confers powers on the president to effect pardons, also empowers him to reduce sentences.
“ (Therefore) why didn’t he choose the option of reducing their sentences (other than pardoning them)?” queries Chibambo.
Other lawyers agreed with Chibambo, saying Chimbalanga and Monjeza should go back to jail because the process that led to their release is illegal.
But the Malawi Law Society (MLS), other than picking issue with how Mutharika- who is also African Union Chairperson- pardoned the two, has questioned the president’s decision to gag cabinet ministers from speaking on the issue.
MLS President, John Gift-Mwakhwawa, says Mutharika’s decision does not augur well with freedom of expression, and asked ‘principled’ ministers to defy the president and speak out.
Mwakhwawa said there may be cabinet ministers who may wish to speak out, owing to the publicity the issue of gays has generated in Malawi, but may not do so for fear of receiving the punishment that never fails: a boot from Mutharika’s cabinet.
He described the decision as illegal since it violates Constitutional provisions.

Ghana stage anti-gay protest

Over a thousand protesters in Ghana have staged a massive demonstration amidst a heavy downpour in the oil city, Sekondi -Takoradi in the Western region to express their opposition to the growing activities of gay and lesbians in that part of West African country.
The protesters defied to engineer their displeasure as they went through the principal streets of the metropolis wielding placards following an alleged report that close to 60 gays and lesbians from the Eastern, Ashanti and Central regions of that country, have attended a get-together held in Tanokrom and other suburbs of the city.

The Muslim community in Takoradi with support from other religious groups and concerned citizens took to the streets of the Twin city.

The Leader of the demonstrators, Saeed Hamid, told AfricaNews that the demonstration was meant to draw government’s attention to the conduct of the gays and lesbians in the country, particularly in the Western Region.

According to the anti-gay and Lesbians group, even though people had the right to choose various sexual orientations and associate with whatever group they desire, the constitution also frowns on the activities of gays and lesbians.

Hamid said Ghana as a country is mainly occupied by Christians and Muslims, and the practice should not be embraced, saying it could have dire consequences on the country.

"Ghana will suffer more than the experience of Sodom and Gomorrah, should we embrace this practice in this country".

In a petition presented to the Western Regional Minister Paul Evans Aidoo, the protesters said, the rate at which the youth in the Twin City are putting up the practice is alarming and is much of a concern since most of the young boys involved have health problems and wear pampers.

"How would you feel, if someone puts his penis into your anus?" He queried.
Adding that, the act could jeopardize their future.

Hamid mentioned that a lot of expatriates in Tarkwa and Takoradi working in the mining and oil industry were the ones luring the innocent youth into the practice through the influence of money.

They are therefore calling on the government to clearly state what the law says about homosexuality and possibly criminalize the practice. He was however worried that Takoradi is gradually becoming a hub for gays and lesbians hence their decision to resist the ‘’ungodly act’’.

Receiving the petition on behalf of the President, the Western Regional Minister Paul Evans Aidoo assured the demonstrators that steps would be taken to address their concerns.

The Minster advised the group not to take the law into their own hands by attacking the alleged gays and lesbians in their communities since that would be a breach of the law.

The group has given indications that it would organize a nationwide protest if no positive response is heard from the government after two months.

The Western Regional Police Commander DCOP Mahama Hamidu, who led his team to offer protection to the demonstrators, described the march as peaceful.

Sharia Law for Non-Muslims

What is Sharia?

Sharia law is Islamic law. Sharia is the basis for every demand that Muslims make on our society. When schools are asked to give up a room for Islamic prayer, that is asking us to implement Sharia law. When a Muslim wears a head scarf, that is in obedience to Sharia law. When our newspapers would not publish the Danish Mohammed cartoons, our newspapers were submitting to the demands of Sharia law. When demands are made for our hospitals to treat Muslim women in special ways, that is Sharia. When our textbooks have to be vetted by Muslim organizations before they are used in our schools, that is in accordance with Sharia law.

The attack on the World Trade Center was done in adherence to the rules of war, jihad, found in Sharia law. Sharia law is the basis for the religious, political and cultural life of all Muslims.

Sharia law is being implemented more and more in America and yet there is no knowledge about what Sharia actually is since public, private or religious schools do not teach it.

THE GOOD NEWS

The easiest way to learn about Islam is through Sharia law. Through learning about Sharia you are introduced to the Koran and Mohammed in a practical manner. It is easy to learn when you can see the direct application and examples.

When you know Sharia, Islam suddenly makes sense, it all fits together. Most people think Islam is complicated or even impossible to understand, but when you understand its principles, Islam is very, very logical. It is based on different views of humanity, logic, knowledge, and ethics. Once you understand the principles and logic, you not only can explain what and why something is happening, but you will be able to predict the next step in the process.

UNDERSTANDING THE REFERENCE NUMBERS

Before you can understand Sharia, you have to learn about three books that are the basis of Sharia.
Each ruling or law in Sharia is based on a reference in the Koran or the Sunna, the perfect example of Mohammed (found in two texts-Hadith and Sira). Each and every law in Islam must come from the Koran and the Sunna.

We know the Sunna by knowing about the personal details of Mohammed's life. We know how he cleaned his teeth and which shoe he put on first. We know the Sunna because we have the Sira and the Hadith.

You probably think that the Koran is the bible of Islam. Not true. The bible of Islam is the Koran, the Sira and the Hadith. These three texts can be called the Trilogy.

The Koran is a small part, only 14% of the total words, of the doctrine that is Islam. The text devoted to the Sunna is 86% of the total textual doctrine of Islam. Islam is 14% Allah and 86% Mohammed.

Sharia is nothing more than a condensation and extrapolation of the Koran and the Sunna. Therefore, it is impossible to understand the Sharia without some understanding about the doctrine found in the Koran, Hadith and the Sira. Turn to any page after this chapter and you will find that most of the paragraphs have an index number.

The classic Sharia law text is the Reliance of the Traveller, N. Keller, Amana Publications. (Yes, the correct spelling is Traveller with a double l.) It is a 1,200 page book devoted to such subjects as: political control of non-Muslims, prayer, jihad, wills and estates, punishment, court rules, and land use. It covers legalities and theology.

Here is a typical paragraph:

08.0 APOSTACY FROM ISLAM

08.1 When a person who has reached puberty and is sane, voluntarily apostatizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed.

[Bukhari 9,83,17] Mohammed: “A Muslim who has admitted that there is no god but Allah and that I am His prophet may not be killed except for three reasons: as punishment for murder, for adultery, or for apostasy.”

The o8.1 is an index number in the Sharia law text, The Reliance of the Traveller. The text is divided into divisions, a, b, c, ... This particular law is found in division o; section 8; subsection 1. With the index number, o8.1, you can read the source, The Reliance of the Traveller.

We not only have the law, apostates (people who leave Islam) should be killed, but we have the supporting doctrine found in a hadith, a sacred text used along with the Koran. A hadith is what Mohammed did or said. This particular hadith is by Bukhari, the major collector of Mohammed's stories. Notice the index number--9,83,17. This is like a chapter and verse index so that you can go and read the original. All of the Hadith, including Bukhari, can be found on many university Internet sites.

Here is a Sharia law supported by the Koran:

09.0 JIHAD
Jihad means war against Kafirs to establish Islam.
Koran 2:216 You are commanded to fight although you dislke it. You may hate something that is good for you, and love something that is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not.

Here we have the Sharia defining what jihad is and then gives its foundational reference for the authority. Again, you can verify the accuracy of the Koran verses and the original reference, 09.0, in the Reliance of the Traveller.

There is one last type of reference to a supporting document.

DEALING WITH A REBELLIOUS WIFE
m10.12 When a husband notices signs of rebelliousness...
Ishaq969 ... Men were to lay injunctions on women lightly for they were prisoners of men and had no control over their persons.

Here we have the usual Sharia reference number, m10.12, which allows you to read the original reference. The Ishaq index number, 969, is a margin note reference that allows you to look in the Sira (Mohammed's biography-The Life of Muhammad, A. Guillaume) and verify the truth of the reference.

BELIEVABLE AND AUTHORITATIVE

This is fact-based knowledge based upon critical thought and analysis. What you see here can all be independently verified for yourself.

This is a very different approach than asking a Muslim or an "expert" in the media. If a Muslim or any expert says something about Islam that disagrees with the Koran or Sunna, then the expert is wrong. If the expert says something that agrees with Koran or Sunna, then the expert is right, but redundant.

Once you know Koran and Sunna, you don't need anybody else.

POLTICAL ISLAM

The largest part of the Trilogy is not about how to be a good Muslim. Instead most of the text is devoted to the unbeliever. The Koran devotes 64% of its total words to the unbeliever and the Trilogy, as a whole, devotes 60% of its text to the unbelievers.

Islam is NOT a religion. It is a complete civilization with a detailed political system, religion and a legal code-the Sharia. Mohammed preached the religion of Islam for 13 years in Mecca and got 150 Arabs to convert to Islam. He went to Medina and became a politician and a war-lord. After 2 years in Medina, every Jew was murdered, enslaved, or exiled. He was involved in an event of violence on the average of every 6 weeks for the last 9 years of his life. Mohammed died without a single enemy left standing.

This was not a religious process, but a political process. Jihad is political action with a religious motivation. Political Islam is the doctrine that deals with the non-Muslim.

Mohammed did not succeed with his program of religion, but his political process of jihad triumphed. Sharia law is the political implementation of the Islamic civilization.

The political nature of Islam is what creates the major difference between Sharia and Jewish religious law, halaka. Jewish law has nothing to say about non-Jews and explicitly says that the law of the land trumps halaka.

Sharia has a lot to say about Kafirs and how they are to be treated, subjugated and ruled. Sharia claims political supremacy over the Constitution.

There is nothing good for non-Muslims in the Sharia. This is why every unbeliever has a reason to know Sharia law, especially those in politics, policy, regulation and legal matters. Sharia law is about the unbeliever as well as the Muslim. Islam's attitudes and actions about unbelievers are political, not religious.

Even though Sharia violates every principle of our Constitution, it is being implemented today, since Islam is seen as only as a religion.

MUSLIMS AND SHARIA

Non-Muslims call Muslims that seem nice, moderate Muslims. This use of the word "moderate" is not based on Islam.

A moderate Muslim is one who follows the Sharia. As much as they follow the Sharia, they are a Muslim. To the degree they don't follow the Sharia, they are a failure at being a Muslim.

The Sharia is based on the perfect, unchanging Koran and Sunna. Therefore, the Sharia is perfect and unchanging. If every Muslim in the world wanted to change a single letter of the Koran, the Sunna or the Sharia, they could not. How can perfection be improved? How can an eternal text be changed? Since the Sharia is nothing more than a codification of perfect, unchanging, universal texts, it is a perfect, unchanging and universal legal code.

Give John Tembo his Leader of Opposition Post

This is a demand: give Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president, John Zenus Ungapake Tembo, his Leader of Opposition post.

It is so simple: The High Court in Lilongwe ruled so.

So, what National Assembly Speaker, Henry Chimunthu Banda, is doing by not recognising Tembo is nonsense.

Not that I am speaking because Tembo is my Member of Parliament in Dedza South; and it's not because my father and mother come from the same village in Dedza South, making Tembo my only MP- it is because this is justice.

Hey, the Democratic Progressive Party, remember that Malawi is a multiparty democracy.

Sorry, guys, mwagwa nayo pamenepa. Khothi lanena.

But Gender and Community Development Minister Patricia Kaliati has warning the two, wondering who would marry Malawian women if men got engaged to each other.
"They have been pasrdoned, yes; but that should not give them the lee-way to continue their atrocious behaviour," said Kaliati.
Monjeza said, however, he is not fazed with the warning.
"Love is difficult to erase," he said.

Together, the two - from 2009 and 2010, jointly coordinate the implementation of seven capacity building activities worth Euro 10 million. Activities target both public and private sectors that play a role in the Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) systems at national, regional and continental levels.

A press release said the week long workshop, to be attended by the continents best, will, among other areas, touch on Continental Experience on Standardisation; FAO/WHO/CODEX regional experience.
The release, further adds: "the key objective is to support food security mainly by the transfer of technical expertise and policy advice in areas of food safety and quality across Africa."

"At micro level, the activities will help improve the use of agricultural inputs (fertilisers, pestcides, veterinary drugs, etc) and good hygiene practices in the production and distributions chains, “it reads.

Animal/product management systems of control and certifications, strengthening the competent authorities and producer’s associations (small and medium enterprises - SMEs) are also discussed in the workshop.

The macro level explores activities that support the gradual integration and competetiveness of the agro-food sector, among many others.

"The activities are part of the EU Annual Action Programme 2007 for food security... implemented under the Better Training for Safer Food (BTSF), an initiative of the EU - Health and Consumers Directorate-General ," says the release.

The meeting will be co-chaired by M. Jacky Le Gosles, director general at SANCO and Dr. Sarah Olembo from AUC DREA.

Assylum offers for pardoned gays

Britain has offered to grant asylum to the pardoned Malawi gay couple - Steven Monjeza, 26, and Tiwonge Chimbalanga, 20. According to Peter Thatchel, British Human Rights Campaigner from Outrage, the organization is in touch with the couple about their safety and wellbeing.
Malawi gay couple sentenced to 14 years in jail
“We are liaising with Steve and Tiwonge about whether they want to seek asylum
abroad. If they want then we can help them to stay in Britain,” said Thatchel.

Thatchel said although the couple was pardoned, there are possibilities that they will not have the room to operate freely in their relationship.

Their lawyer Mauya Msuku shared Thatchel’s fears that they were unlikely to be treated in the same way if they were arrested again.

“The pardon only applies to the offence under which they were convicted. If, for example, they go back and the State is of the view that they have re-committed the offence, the pardon will not apply,” Msuku said.

UK and the US have been at the forefront in lampooning the southern African country for jailing the couple. President wa Mutharika has to succumb to the international pressure to order their release with immediate effect.

Government officials have threatened that the couple would be put before the law again if found living together.
