The Ministry of Sports, Youth Development and Welfare would like to congratulate World Boxing Council Champion Isaac Golden Boy Chilemba for defeating Colombian Champion Edison ‘the Panther’ Miranda in a boxing match that took place last Friday in the United States of America.
Chilemba defeated Miranda through a 97-91, 96 -92, 96 -92 unanimous points decision judges handed him after the match.
“Chilemba’s excellent track record over the years to date has made Malawi proud and the government would like to salute this Malawian born boxing champion for raising the country’s profile on the international scene through his excellent performance in boxing.”
Chilemba defeated Russian Maxim Vlasov and James Bostic in March and October, 2011 respectively.
The Ministry therefore applauds Chilemba for raising the Malawian Flag and believes this has been achieved because of his high sense of discipline and hard work.
He is also the first Malawian boxer to fight at ESPN’s Friday Night fight.
