In yet another gesture of tyranny, the government of Malawi has vowed to ban NGOs that criticise its policies.
This has sent shivers down the spines of civil and human rights activists, with Human Rights Consultative Committee chairperson Undule Mwakasungula crying for an audience with President Bingu wa Mutharika.
Mwakasungula represents a consortium of over 80 NGOs.
However, Malawians hope that the courts will come to their rescue in face of this blatant gesture on tyranny and intolerance.
"This is absurd and dangerous," said Mwakasungula.
The ruling Democratic Orogressive Party is fast winning the accolade of 'most unddemocratic party' in Malawi though it wears the name 'Democratic' in its court of many colours.
